There are so many new aftermarket parts on this car it’s difficult to decide where to start! The 572 ci HEMI was built in the winter 2007 by Muscle Motors in Lansing, Michigan, where it was dyno tested and tuned by Mike Ware. It makes over 900HP and 800 ft-lbs of torque on 93 octane pump gas—now THAT’S a motor! After the first 300 easy break in miles the engine was re-tuned by Mick Bodigon. 200 Miles later it’s dialed in and ready to go! A fully CNC Prepped Mopar Performance Mega Block wears Indy Cylinder Heads’ 426-1RA CNC 295 heads and 426-2 Intake on top. A Callies 4.5″ stroke 4340 crank swings heavy duty 7.15″ Eagle H-Beam rods and Weisco 10.75 to 1 pistons. A Comp Cams roller cam (custom ground for Muscle Motors) and HR1 lifter set make the valves dance. Induction duties are handled via a massive 1090cfm King Demon Carb breathing through a K&N Xtream custom air cleaner. Indy polished aluminum valve covers add some shine while a complete MSD ignition from the distributor to the Blaster SS coil to the Digital 6 box handles the fires. A Milodon 8 quart oil pan feeds their high flow oil pump while a Be Cool 1000hp pro street dual core radiator and CSI electric water pump handle the cooling duties. A Competition Engineering motor plate with limiters keeps the power from tearing the car in half. An Optima Red Top battery with an aluminum hold down and a 100 amp alternator provide plenty of cranking power. Here are two figures for you: 932hp@6800rpm and $22,858—that’s what just the MOTOR would set you back!
Power is great but unless there’s a serious transmission in the middle that Dana will never see it. BIG HEMI stepped up big time and spec’d out a Coan Racing Maximum Performance 727 Transmission. A fully reconditioned case holds a trans brake, alloy hubs, an aluminum direct drum with a 6 clutch pack, their “super support kit” and 5 pinion planetary, a lightened sun shell, super sprag, fabricated deep pan, billet band apply strut (reversed pattern, big block.) If you know what’s going on you’re impressed, and if you’re lost the Cliffs Notes version is one word: Bulletproof. A CSR transmission shield protects your legs while a polished B&M trans cooler keeps things from exploding. A super duty Performance Torque Converters (PTC) 9″, steel stator, 4200 stall converter, spec’d out by Muscle, features all the standard stuff like a precision clearance, reinforced fins, needle bearings, ballooning plates, computer balancing, limited warranty, furnace brazing, and hardened hub and splines. Bulletproof, and just what the motor needs!
On the lift it goes—up front you’re looking at a Magnumforce tubular K frame and Aldan double adjustable coil-overs and Eibach springs. Wilwood 10 ¾” rotors and four piston calipers bring the car to a halt and feature a line lock. Magnumforce’s 1-1/2 inch drop spindles set the stance while a Flaming River rack turns the wheels. Out back a Strange Engineering Dana 60 awaits the engine’s command. Braced with Strange axles, a Strange spool, and 4:10 Richmond gears the rear gets with a professionally installed Chassis Engineering ladder bar set up with Strange coil over single adjustable shocks to put the power down. Billet Specialties Street Lite Race Wheels (15×4 up front and 15×10 in rear) hold Mickey Thompson Sportsmans (28×7.5-15 and 28×13.5-15 ET Streets, respectively.) More Wilwood disc brakes, an adjustable proportioning valve and stainless steel brake lines work with the fronts to haul the car down afterwards. An 8 point cage inside ties everything together on top while sub-frame connectors below do the same. From one end to the other this is a pro level build with top shelf parts!
The painstaking and spectacular transformation of this HEMI Coronet started in the summer of 2007 with Randy Booden, owner of B&B Collision out of Royal Oak, Michigan, handling the chores. The paint is an eye-searing 2002 Viper Red laid down over all original body panels. The body is laser straight and paint is show quality. All new rubber seals keep the weather out. All exterior trim is new, re-chromed, or polished with no dings or dents and we have the receipts to prove it. A chromed front grille assembly is a cool touch, especially with the re-chromed front bumper below. The tail panel is in excellent condition and is a custom piece finished in matching red. The Billet Specialties wheels give the car a street racer look, and if the matte black hood with super stock hood scoop doesn’t deter poseurs the massive 4″ Flowmaster-equipped exhaust sure will!
Since this Coronet was destined for street action, the car demanded an interior that exceeded mere sheet metal trim. Dynamat sound deadening and new carpeting were installed under the new high back racing bucket seats. Auto Meter Pro Comp Ultra Lite gauges fitted to the custom Rocky Mountain Dashes panel keep track of the vitals. A Flaming River polished steering column with tilt and a Flaming River steering wheel get together with a mint dash pad to finish off the dash. New reproduction door panels, window cranks, door cranks, and a new headliner join with polished or re-chromed interior trim . G Force Racing 5 point camlock harnesses keep you in place on the street or track. A Cheetah SCS Shifter with command center ensures positive shifts and a professionally installed Painless Wiring kit chases away electrical gremlins. Open the trunk to find a custom polished aluminum fuel cell in a super clean trunk feeding a big Barry Grant fuel pump. Again, top shelf stuff!
This car is capable of running low 10’s high 9’s in the quarter mile … is that fast enough for you? An earth shaking motor with all the trimmings sitting in a “go big or go home” chassis, built with the best components money can buy, makes for a heck of a street car, and this one’s done well enough to knock down trophies! Guys, to build this car as it sits, you would need to spend $100K +, unless you wanna spend 3 years working for free. If you are looking for something that radiates “shock & awe”, while looking good doing it.
